Students

We will be participating in the 2026 Summer Student Recruitment process in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario rules.

Kindly note we are not currently hiring for articling positions.

What we offer:

We are proud to provide well-rounded summer and articling experiences that include intellectually stimulating work, court appearances, formal and informal mentorship, many shadowing opportunities, internal professional development programs, social events, and exposure to some of the most interesting and high-profile cases in the country.

HHR has two main practice groups – civil and criminal litigation. Many of our lawyers practice both criminal and civil litigation. However, during the summer experience given the short duration of the term, we offer summer students practical experience in either criminal or civil. During articles, in some cases, we can provide rotations that will include exposure to both practice groups. If you are interested in being a dualist or have a specific interest in only one practice group kindly specify it in the cover letter.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent academic achievement
  • Strong analytic writing ability
  • Proven ability to identify, anticipate, and effectively address risks and roadblocks
  • Excellent research skills
  • Our goal is to hire summer students with the intention of them continuing to article at HHR
  • HHR is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in our recruitment process

If you are passionate about litigation, looking for a collaborative work environment, mentorship matters to you, you have an interest in learning and development, you want to get involved in some of the most high-profile cases and you love the law then we encourage you to apply.
