Brandon Pasternak is a civil litigation associate at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP.
Before joining Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP, Brandon practiced as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York City. Before that, he clerked for justices of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice — Divisional Court and Court of Appeal for Ontario.
Brandon has acted in a range of complex civil litigation and investigatory matters, representing multinational corporations, financial institutions, and other entities in consumer class actions, securities litigation, antitrust matters, and regulatory investigations. He has balanced his practice by devoting substantial time to pro bono work representing low-income tenants in New York City Housing Court.
Brandon obtained his law degree from the University of Toronto, where he was awarded the W.P.M. Kennedy Silver Medal for graduating with the second highest cumulative average. He also received a number of other academic awards, including prizes in Constitutional Law and Taxation, the Aird & Berlis Prize for achieving the second highest standing in first year, and the McCarthy, Tétrault Prize for academic excellence meriting special recognition from the teaching faculty. During law school, Brandon worked as a summer student for the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, served as an associate editor for the Journal of Law and Equality, worked as a peer tutor in the Academic Advisory Program, and assisted the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights with an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada. Brandon has authored work published by the Canadian Class Action Review and Dublin’s Trinity College Law Review, for which he was awarded The Matheson Prize for the best commercial law article.
Brandon holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Studies from Queen’s University, where he graduated as the Gold Medalist and as the recipient of the Prince of Wales Prize (Honourable Mention), which recognizes the Queen’s student with the second-best academic record graduating with an Honours B.A. degree.
Brandon grew up in Brantford, Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
